MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Rover SD1 FI resistor pack
So I have the V8 and the gearbox out of the 1980 US spec Rover SD1. Although I'm still up in the air about the induction system, I'm saving all of the FI parts just in case I decide to use the flapper system. I have the lines, harness, pump, etc out but I'm at a loss as to the power resistor pack for the injectors. What am I looking at here? There is a series of what appears to be relays behind the glove box. Are these the resistors? I want to get the Rover to the junk yard but I don't want to miss out on anything important. Can anybody give me a clue as to what the power resistor pack looks like? Help a dumb M.E. out. Thanks

Steve, On the UK SD1 it was a small silver box, about the size of a pack of 10 cigarettes, in the front of the engine bay in the wiring harness, connector has about dozen wires in it. I had the flap-valve system on my Vitesse engine V8 for a couple of years, then switched over to hot wire, a number of the components are common to both, so it's not a very complex up-date. Good luck with the convesion.

Personally I would remove everything that has a wire attached to it, you can always get rid of it later and it all should store away into a largish box. For example some people adapt the electronic Rover speedo to the MG speedo face so as to retain the speed sensor. If you are using the rover gear box this is another good reason. All those relays, interior lights etc all have their uses. The flapper did have reliabilty/backfire issues, which is why I traded mine for various other bits.

Thanks for the info guys. The pack as described by M. Barnfather is safe in a box with the rest of the harness. I had taken it out before figuring it was something important. Peter, thanks for the tip on the speedo. To the scrap yard with the Rover after I pick it clean. Next step is teardown and refresh of the V8 and 5 speed. Conversion is planned for the winter months. Thanks again, Steve Mc
