MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - rear parabolic springs

I have just fitted some parabolic springs and the problem I have is with the rear spring shackles,drivers side almost vertical but the passenger side is pointing forward and is horizontal,
I have measured both springs and mounting points on the car and both sides are identical, the difference between the spring length and the chassis mounting points is 2 inches but I assume that the springs will flatten out when there is more weight in the car, but why is there a difference between the two sides.
Any help and advice greatly appreciated.
