MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - MG V6 T5 conversion

I was going to convert my 77 mgb to a 2.8 V6 and T5 5 speed. I was wondering what kind of work i need to do on the transmission tunnel and how exactly to do the engine mounts without ordering a kit? Also do i need to change any wiring?
Micheal

You need a bfh to pound the tunnel out a bit. Also most use an internal Hydraulic TO bearing because of the room. Wiring depends on what you want to do with the 2.8, most are using 3.4 or 3.1 engines, with fuel injection. Some get rid of the SFI and go with carbs. You have to be sure of getting the right T5 so the gears match right, you dont need to change rear ends. Buy the motor mounts from Bill Guzzman in LA, it isnt worth the hassel to reinvent the wheel here. BMC in Minnesota sells his kit.

Hi Micheal and CW,
On the rubber bumper cars, there is actually no body modifications. The two optional items are- cut the old motor mounts out since you no longer need them and cut about 1/4 to 3/8 inch strip out of the gearbox shifter opening on the body. I cut a 1/4" X 5" section out where we bend the shifter to clear the body. This can be done before or after the driveline is installed and does not effect the structure or anything you can actually see when the car is put together.

I am actually looking at purchasing one right now like 15 min from my house that has all the body work done and new seats and a new V6 and 5speed in it for a couple hundered. The car has been sitting for like 2 years and he didnt paint the motor so i was going to take the motor out sand it and paint it and i was going to sand some rust spots where he didnt properly finish the metal and prime them and put a new top and carpet in it for now and just drive it. Then repaint it and repaint the engine and put a new cam in.
Micheal

Sounds like a good deal. Keep us informed if you purchase it or decide to modify it from what it is right now.
