MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - LT77 speedo drive

Hi
Does anyone know what colour speedo drive wheel is required for the LT77 gearbox fitted to a rover 3500 V8?

Thanks

Graham,

It depends on the tyre size, final drive ratio and the turns per mile that your speedo requires.

Looks complicated, I think I can sort out my own tacho but I might just give my speedo to these chaps to sort out!

When I finished my car, I took a drive with friend in his car to compare speedos. Surprisingly, the needle (original '74 speedo, 1280 tpm) was quite accurate up to about 45 mph and then slowed a bit as we got nearer 65. Wrote these numbers down and gave them to my instrument guy to re-calibrate.

He mentioned he could get the needle correct or the odometer but not both. I can live with an odometer out by .1 in 10 miles.

Since I had the LT77, 3.07:1 gears and 205/60-15 tires installed, I thought the speed would be way off.
