MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - lifter problem and adjustible pushrods
I just finished my 3.5L V8 conversion. I used an Isky 270 HL cam and the Isky lifters and springs. Ran like a bat, but after 60 miles or so, the lifter on exhaust cyl #7 got noisy. It just won't pump up now. I called Isky and they are sending me 1 new lifter. I was also using Rover pushrods, but I have a set of adjustible ones. I don't see many messages about the adjustible pushrods. Are there any problems with using them? And has anyone else had just 1 lifter apparently fail? Other than this, the conversion (with a Rover 5 speed) is wonderful. Also, I can't remember if it was TSI or D&D, but someone told me not to use the Isky lifters as they had problems pumping up (I had already bought them). Guess I should have listened. Anyone else heard about Isky lifters? Richard |

| Hope the cam lobe is okay. Adjustable pushrods can be very handy, especially since there is no other valve adjustment on a Buick/Rover. They can be heavier than stock depending on what you buy. Use the lightweight ones. Since you have to rip into it, for $100 a set of Crower lifters would be money well spent. Remember to put some cam lube on the lifters again. |
