MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Jenolite experiences, anyone?
I've heard Jenolite mentioned often but have no experience using it. As far as I know, there's no distribution in North America. Anyone know of an equivalent available over here? Anyone done a comparison with the old standard, Naval Jelly? TTFN

I really rate it. My retoration was back in 96 and I extensiveley used jenolite to remove rust. It takes a while. I brushed it on and after leaving for a few minuted brush off with a wire wheel cup brush on a small grinder. Had to do this several times until the rust turned shiny silver. To date there is no sign at all of the rust coming back. Mark

Derek, if you can find out the 'active' ingredient it would help. Naval Jelly as well as most of the rust treatments common here in the US use phosphoric acid as the main active ingredient. If Jenolite uses the same then it should work pretty much the same, just depends on strength. Phosphoric acid usually turns the rust into a blackish compound, leaving unrusted metal the original shiny finish. I used some liquid type rust treatment I bought at the nearby home store, can't remember the name of the product. I found it easier to use than Naval Jelly, because it was more of a liquid and I could brush it on with an old paint brush. I used a sheet of plastic under the area to prevent discoloration of the concrete floor in the garage. Worked good, dried overnight and the area was ready to work the next day.

Excellent stuff, it was good enough for us to use on Aircraft.
