MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Injectors - High vs Low Impedance
Continuing on my occasional posts about EFI, I'm now looking at injectors. I could have the stock low impedance injectors cleaned and serviced @ +$25 each or buy a brand new set of high impedance injectors for $30 each. The aftermarket ECU that I'm planning on using can be used with either type (resistor pack is still needed if low impedance injectors are used) it seems like a no-brainer that I'd go with new. Anybody have any experience that would convince me otherwise? For reference, I'm starting with the much maligned Lucas "Federal" AFM system from a 1980 Rover SD1. Both the AFM and the ECU are getting ditched in favor of a tunable ECU using a MAP sensor. Thanks, Steve Mc

Try: http://www.affordable-fuel-injection.com/fuel-injector-cleaning.htm I used them to clean my rover injectors, they did a great job for $90 for 8 injectors Regards Tony

Steve, Are the "new" injectors really new? $30 sounds like a reman price to me. If that's the case, stick with your injectors if they're not too worn. Cleaning is okay but make sure they pass a leak down check too. If you can get new injectors for $30, yes it's a no- brainer. Kelly

Low impedence injectors are really only needed for high flow rates. Lots more than you'll need with a rover engine. I built an injector flow bench for about $50 and I can see for myself exactly what my injectors are doing. It ain't rocket science folks. A few junkyard parts and you're good to go. Good deals on injectors on ebay. Jim
