MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Gearbox anti rattle spring

Hello All,

Replacing the dust cover on the SD1 gear lever today I saw the anti rattle spring and plunger were missing. I'm pretty sure they have not been there for a while.

I can get a replacement, but do I really need one?

Although not in the car the gear lever did not seem to rattle that much or have much free play that I couldn't alter with the bias spring bolts if I wanted to.

I have been using a similar size spring, and an screw all well packed with grease. Just ordered a new spring and plunger from Victoria British as offered in the Triumph TR7-8 catalogue. They were a couple bucks.
