MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Exhaust Manifolds
| Hello All, I have just taken delivery of my exhaust system, complete with block hugger SS manifolds. I know manifolds are asymetrical, but I had assumed they would also be clearly handed, right or left i.e. mirror images of each other, and would have the left and right downpipe sections emerging the same distance from the front of the engine. The ones I have, while having different part numbers seem to be identical copies of each other. Looking down at them shows the right side down pipe section a good couple of inches closer to the heater bulkhead than the left side down pipe. Because they are identical swapping them over makes no difference. Is this right? Does one manfold exit further towards the rear of the block than the other? I can't use bulkhead clearances to guide me or check because I need to get going with the cutter to make my own clearances! Liam. |
