MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Engine Mounting brackets
| Hi, Another query: I have managed to get hold of a pair of genuine MG V8 engine mounting brackets (that bolt onto the engine block)and I see that they are marked "Chrome Bumper LH and RH" respectively. My car is a rubber bumper. Can anyone tell me if I need different brackets? |

| The Leyland Parts catalogue doesn't differentiate, it just quotes one pair BHH 991 and BHH 992, and neither does Clive Wheatley. Take care with these, they *are* handed, but fit either side. The end-result is a difference in engine positioning fore and aft. The factory car has the engine in the rearmost of the two possible positions. Getting it wrong (on an RB at least) ends up with the sump sitting on the cross-member and wearing through, the crank pulley rubbing on the anti-roll bar under heavy braking, and the rear crossmember sitting between the two pairs of chassis holes and not lining up with either. |
