MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Cross Fire!!
| Has any one come across Cross Firing problems. This is when the HT leads for cylinder 5 and 7 are not kept apart , usually by lead 3, and cause induced firing in the other lead? Regards Dave Tetlow |

| Dave. I have experienced the problem once in the past and it was due to condensation in the dist cap. It can also be caused by close parallel proximity of leads 5 & 7 which should not be run too close to each other and preferrably crossed over each other just once if necessary. Also a wet, fouled or defective spark plug or lead will show a high resistance and cause the spark at the rotor arm to take the easier route to the adjacent segment and fire the wrong plug with possible engine damage. I have found that a good set of leads, plugs and dry cap will overcome the likelyhood of crossfire. Hope this helps Regards Denis |
