MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Bought my motor & trans

I was busy over the holidays... arranged for a T5 from a '95 mustang [being rebuilt for me] and bought a motor yesterday. i ended up buying a ford crate motor -- M-6007-XB3 (not the XB3M). I got it locally (via ebay though) and did so cheaper than I could have built a similarly powered 302. It already has the short nose water pump & a dual sump oil pan so about the only difference in spec between this motor & the M version as best i could tell is it has OEM type rockers instead of rollers. I may change them out at some point, but probably won't do that for quite some time. It's also coming with a fox body conversion kit (long water pump, associated timing cover & front sump pan) which I'll be able resell. I'll also be able to resell the short nose water pump & timing cover [both of which are new] I was going to use if I'd built a motor... anyway, i hope to get started on the project this weekend.

Nice, congrats. I am still searching and junkyard diving myself. If you are selling the short nose water pump, what are you planning to use instead (I thought the short nose was what we needed to clearance issues)? It's these little things that I am still trying to sort out for myself. I know 302/T5 is how I'm going, but the little bits like oil and so forth, I'm still sorting. Congrats though and keep me posted on how it is all going, it looks like we may both be working on this conversion simultaneously (if I can ever find an engine, hahahah).

Hi DT... The Ford crate motor comes with the dual sump oil pan & the short nose water pump already attached. I'd bought a new water pump & timing cover on ebay a couple of weeks ago when I was planning to build a motor, but based on all my research, i was able to buy this motor for about $150 less than i could have built it. For comparison purposes, what i got was the FordRacingParts M-6007-XB3 motor, the fox body conversion kit (retails for about $300 which I'll also sell), and when i picked it up, the seller threw in what appears to be a new motor stand that he had the motor mounted on. Ebay price was $3000 & then we struck a deal -- i paid cash & he took off the 3% PayPal would have charged him... so $2910 less whatever i can sell the fox body kit for (assume $150 which would put me at $2760 for the ford 345Hp crate motor). Don't think i could beat that building it.

Thats an excellent price. I will have to keep my eyes peeled.
