MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - BMW engine in an MGB??
| I am wondering if anybody has ever fitted a BMW-drivetrain into an MGB. The 4-cyl engines from a 316 oder 318 (M40 engine type) or the small 6-cylinders from a 320 to 328 should make an amazing impression in an MGB-shell... |

| Joern, Sounds like a great idea for a changeover. The BMW engines and transmissions are well known for quality and toughness. Persoanlly I have always thought BMW make the best in line sixes in the world (the rest of their engines are not bad either!) Pete. |

| Hallo Joern, There was one conversion run in the Bonn area in the late 70is, using a 2002 engine and box. Compared to the 93Bhp rated cars of that time it was a fun to drive. I have never seen it any more, may be someone has done a Clausacker restauration to this MG B later. Thinking about these kind of swap, I mesured out the 2 litre ZETEC, that seems to fit in place more easyly, using a Sierra Box and a modified induction System. I run one of these engines for 300k kilometres in a Mondeo and cold not find any mistake on the engine, compared to the one in my sons 318 Touring it seems to be the better one and the right induction system for fitting it to the B can be bought from different UK kit car companies, using EFI or Weber carbs.
