MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Best Electric Cooling Fans

Mates,

What is your recommendation for the best electric fan in a pull-through configuration?

I've mounted my new D&D radiator and I am now thinking about a fan; preferrably an electric fan in a pull-through configuration.

Clearance from the pulley face to the radiator core is about 1 3/4 inches. Plenty of depth to the radiator at about 16 inches, so I could adjust the fan vertically.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I used one from Rainbow Auto products
http://www.rainbowproductsonline.com/
Open the link and do a search for 'cooling'
Click on **16" Super Hi-Performance Cooling Fan** "**16" Super Hi-Performance Cooling Fan**
16" x 16 5/8" x 4"; This is our 15amp, SUPER Hi-Performance Cooling Fan!! Guaranteed to cool or your money back!"

Although it doesn't say in the advertisement mine is 3000CFM and with ducting to the lower Mustang Rad and louvers cut high up on the inner fenders I don't have any cooling problems. I once sat at the Canada-US border in 90 degree temperatures for 45 minutes and the car didn't over heat.

Hope it helps

You may not be able to fit into that small a gap. I used the biggest electric fan I could get. I cut the bottom tray forward to level with the upper slam panel to fit it in. Looks good but if I were to do another one (and I may do this anyway) I would use small two smaller (and cheaper) fans. One on the back and one on the front, both placed well off centre and opposite to one another to cover most of the radiator. ie back bottom left and front top right. I would also use a two stage electric switch thermostat (off a VW) to improve efficiency. Of course with two fans you also have the safety net of redundancy if one fails.
Davies graig by the way.
