MG MGA - windscreen repair

when I dismantled the windscreen two pieces at the corners delaminated and broke off. Unfortunately these would not be covered by the chrome channel when fitted. Can these be filled with fibreglass resin and then sanded to shape and polished? Moreover I am finding it so difficult to put back the frame together again since I believe the glazing rubber is somewhat too thick. I bought this from a leading supplier in the UK. When I took off the glass which is original there was felt at the bottom of the channel but I have my doubts whether there was any glazing rubber originally other than something like dum dum. I have followed all steps on Barneys sight and wetted rubber with soap liquid.
Any suggestions and experiences on this subject are appreciated.

I had the same problem in one bottom corner. I made a "mold" out of masking tape and poured epoxy into it. When the epoxy hardened I removed the tape and installed the window. The epoxy I used has a bit of a yellow cast to it, but only a very small bit of it actually shows when installed. Passed inspection, anyway...

i relaced my screen a few years ago and make the following comments..
1) the windscreen thicknesses vary
2) For the very thin screens the surround rubber is a hard fairly thick material..very difficult to insert. I bought this and it was impossible to install.
3) For normal and thicker screens there is a soft spongy rubber surround....I bought after failure re above and used this material with soapy water and had no problems.
4) The bottom channel has brackets in each corner. The screen is supposed to have a rebate so it does not sit on these and crack. Some screens don't have any rebate ( or insufficient).
5) I levelled out the inside bottom of the bottom channel by cutting a piece of the hard rubber bought under 2) above and fitting it betwen the brackets mentioned mentioned in 4) above and checking .

been in for a long time and no problems.
Good luck.

Thanks AJ Mail and Neil Ferguson for your comments. In fact what I did was to abrade the broken section on the windscreen and then poured in JB Weld two part epoxy
after surrounding the broken part with masking tape to avoid the liquid spilling over. I shall smoothen the epoxy by sanding it down to the level of the glass and then I shall polish it. I hope it will be a good finish but anyway most of it will be covered by the rail. This way I managed to fill the gap when I put back the screen in the frame. As regards the spongy packing I still have not managed to source this part and I intend to wait until I find the proper stuff to do the job again.

The two glazing rubbers are both quoted in the Moss US catalogue ..see below
280-735 $35.95 GLAZING RUBBER
for glass under 0.25" thick,

280-745 $19.95 GLAZING RUBBER
for glass over 0.25" thick .

You need the latter one ....part 280-745. The other stuff you have bought is great for a thousand other jobs ....
Good luck....you can probably get it cheaper from LBC....
