MG MGA - UV resistance of car covers

Does anyone have an opinion (oh, not this crew!) on whether one cover brand/material has better UV resistance than another? I'm talking about preventing cover degradation, as my car sits out all season utilizing a car cover. About every 2 seasons, the cover needs replacement, as the fabric tears/shreds very easily once exposed to this much UV.

Your thoughts would be kindly appreciated.

I just went through this. The "Noah" material has come apart on every cover of that type I've owned. The last one took only one year before it was literally falling to pieces. I put in a call to Big Sky Car Covers, who set me up with an Ultratect cover. He claims it will be the most UV-resistant outdoor cover, which is important since I live in such a sunny, warm area and the car under that cover gets no shade. Also excellent water resistance, although there was one better in that area with slightly less UV resistance and a much higher price.

I recommend Big Sky highly. Greg is a great guy to deal with. And this comes from a guy who lives within spitting distance of California Car Covers.

About a week and a half! But it's held up to the sun wonderfully so far. ;)

I spoke with Greg in detail about what to expect from the two materials I was considering and this one had the highest degree of UV resistance with a slight sacrifice in water repellency. I had to do a custom fit cover because the vehicle is unusual, so the price was about $50 higher than the normal $250 or so. I would expect an MGA to be a standard pattern in their database.

I don't have any experience with outside covers but have(2)Dustop covers purchased from Carcoverworld and they are excellent quality. Suggest you investigate their Sunbrella range.
