MG MGA - Seat rails
Finally got my seat frames fixed and am re-assembling the rails and seat on a test sheet of ply, which I will use as a template for the holes in the real floor. I find that the seat adjuster handle hits the bottom outside rail as you slide the seat back, and this limits the movement so the peg doesn't clear the hole. I have it so that you move the lever to the outside to free the seat. Any opinions what is wrong here?

Not an uncommon problem Art. Just bend the lever a little until you get clearance. Barry

Art I had to bend mine just like Barry suggested to make it work. I also reused my old seat rails because the ones I got from a supplier were banana shaped and worthless. I also found that there is little clearance between the sliding rail and the front bolts and if you use thick washers the sliding rail binds. Andy 60 Coupe

Problem solved. I cut off the thumb tabs and welded them to the opposite seats. Now the tabs face away from the rails.
