MG MGA - Replacement Turn Signal Flasher
Hi Guys, Does anyone know if there is a common auto parts store turn signal flasher unit that is a replacement for the three prong Lucas flasher on my 1957 MGA? I read Barney's article and I understand the 42W requirement for the flasher. The ideal replacement would have the mounting bracket with screw hole and be a direct replacement. Anyone have the part# and Manufacturer? Its easy enough to drill the push tabs with a hole and tap them to allow the screw connectors to work as required for a 1957 MGA. -Martin Straka

Martin, I just went to NAPA a bought a generic flasher. Seems to work fine (58 Coupe) but does not have a mounting tab. There were already holes in the tabs that I put screws through. Gerry

Martin, There's a fair number on eBay. I've purchased this Lucas FL5 12V 42W from the Malaysian dealer, "Matchless1954" < http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LUCAS-FLASHER-UNIT-AUSTIN-MORRIS-MINI-MG-NOS-/260765322001?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb6d30b11 > and it works just fine. It's an Indonesian copy, if I recall, and took a couple of weeks for delivery. Ken
