MG MGA - Rear Bumper Spacers

I have just removed the rear bumper to fit a pair of brackets for my reversing light and fog light - using front spotlight brackets. I have ended up with a pile of washers and am uncertain if all (any) of them are correct. In particular, I cannot identify the spacer washers that are supposed to fit between the bumper iron and the bumper (item AHH5494 in the Moss catalogue). Can someone tell me the thickness and diameter of this spacer please. I note it also the same one used as a spacer for the overrider bolt, but I am not even certain if the ones I have are correct.

It looks as if AHH5494 is used on the front and back bumpers and according to the SPL there are eleven of them required in total.
I bought a front/rear bumper fastener kit from Todd Clarke last year and although I haven't identified all individual items (and Todd Clarke doesn't provide a drawing) I've just had a re-look and there is only one type of flat washer with eleven pieces. This has an OD of 0.81" approx, an ID of .475" and a thickness of 1/8". If, as I think, these are meant to go on a 3/8" screw then the holes are quite a bit oversized.

Also in the kit are 12 identical hefty washers with 1/2" holes which presumably go on the frame bumper struts. These are 1.5" OD and 1/8" thick................... Mike

Steve,

According to the B&G catalogue AHH5494 are titled special washer 3/8" and there are 6 of them used in the rear bumper assembly

Thanks for the info. That helps. I guess the idea of the spacers is to keep the bumper irons clear of the bumper curvature and therefore to avoid damage. I could have guessed the OD, it was the thickness that was of most use.

Just had a look at the selection of washers that came out of my rear bumper. The one on the right was the most numerous, measuring 1" OD. The one on the left fits your description but was no where to be found other than in my stock of washers - which I will now use.

Believe it or not, the ID on both are the same. good optical illusion.
