MG MGA - Radio Mouting - any advice?
Hi guys, I'm in the process of getting an old Radiomobile radio converted to being I-Pod friendly, and the thought struck me - how do I mount the radio? The care didn't come with a radio, so there's no sign of how to mount one. I've seen the "proper" brackets on one of Barney's pages, and they look great, but no-one seems to sell them. Whilst I could cobble somthing together to support the back of the radio and keep it in situ, has anyone out there got any neat tricks that I could blatantly plagiarise? Many thanks in advance, Grant :-)

Hi Grant Tod Clarke in the US sells a mounting kit for the back of the radio. Its about £25 http://www.clarkespares.com/ Emailing Tod is easiest. Who is converting your radio? There is someone in the midlands I would definitely avoid! John

I know that Todd Clarke sells the speaker mounting box, but does someone have a source for an appropriate speaker itself?

Hi guys, I emailed Todd and he's getting back to me with a price inclusive of shipping. Many thanks, Grant :-)

David, Some time ago I bought a collection of mga spares and it included an original loudspeaker box so I've been trying to find out what size of speaker was fitted to it without success so far. The speaker fixing hole spacing on the box is 5.125" x 5.125". I've seen several likely vintage speakers on Ebay but none with this hole spacing. There is a picture in Clausager of the box with speaker but it's difficult to tell if the speaker is circular or elliptical. I've tried to fit an old Radiomobile 6"x4" elliptical but it's too small for the box. I think a 7"x5" may be a good fit - 8"x5" would probably be too long. I'm still looking!.............Mike
