MG MGA - Rack & Pinion Thrust Washer
Appears I'm in a lot of trouble. I disassembled the stiff steering rack (full of grease) from my '60 MGA and when I went to put t back together, I couldn’t find the lower pinion thrust washer. In fact, I don’t actually recall ever seeing it in place when I pulled the front pinion cap off. The rack & pinion is in great shape, so I really don’t need to replace it. All I need is that single thrust washer (which no one makes or carries anymore!) Would anyone have an old hacked rack & pinion that they don’t need the thrust washer from? I’d be grateful to buy it! Thanks for any help! Glen

Glen, you can have a whole LHD rack for free if you pay the postage from Oz.

I have a steering rack with some missing parts just waiting to be scrapped. Which piece do you need for sure? There are two pinion thrust washers. The lower one is just inside of the brass Pinion Cap.

Glen, I just rebuilt the steering rack on a TD and replaced the thrust washers. Got them from Abingdon Spares, LTD. I believe they are the same for an MGA and cost less than $10.00. Sure is fun getting the grease out, huh! Bob
