MG MGA - Mounting seat bases to seat frame

Hi, I'm just in the process of rebuilding my seat and was hoping someone could tell me how the bases are attached to the frame. Cheers, Jason

For a standard MGA (not a deluxe or a twin cam), the seat bases are upholstered separately, and simply drop into place on the frame. They are held in place by three pieces of wood that are screwed to the bottom of the seat base - one in front, and two along the sides at the rear. See here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/interior/int202.htm.

The wood blocks hold it in the proper position. Gravity is what holds it down. If you cut you own seat bases do not make them too large. Cut on the inside of the line not the outside. Slightly small fits slightly large does not.

I followed Barney's plans and found them to be spot on.
