MG MGA - Motorsport Magazine
| I'm looking to buy back issues of Motorsport (and Autosport, for that matter) from 1964-1973 or so. I've found someone on eBay that has original back issues, but did not respond when I ask if he would post them to the US. Apparently Motorsport does offer a back issue archive on CD/DVD, which may be my best option. Does anyone have experience with these archived issues? Are they of good quality? High resolution? Many Thanks. |

| Hi Kemper, I have two or three cardboard boxes of motor sport mags from the sixties and seventies - they get dragged out from under the stairs if I am feeling in a melancholic or nostalgic mood! A lot of original magazines get cut up by dealers to sell the adverts. For my part there is no substitute for actually handling the magazines rather than reading on a screen. The problem with sending magazines is the weight- I have just weighed Feb 1967 at just under 8 ounces (it is not one of the thickest by any means). Do you want the mags for your own personal use or research? I can be contacted on david (dot) gibson60(at)talklalk (dot) net Yours, Dave |

| Many thanks for the response. I tried the address you provided (fixed, of course) and it bounced. I'm at slash5bmw at yahoo dot com. My interest in Motorsport is both for personal use and for research. An acquaintance of mine owned several rare Porsche race cars. He died a few years ago and the family is now beginning the process of selling the them. I am a friend of the family and have known these cars for some time, so I guess I'm wishing to capture a little bit of these cars before they go. One of his cars, Porsche 907-005 was the winner of the 1968 24hrs of Daytona. The car was featured on the cover of the March 1968 issue of Motorsport. The other cars are also noteworthy and appear throughout Motorsport over the years. The seller on eBay had the complete 1968 set and I was prepared to pay shipping, but he was unwilling to even get a quote. I've sent an email to Motorsport requesting a digital copy to see if they are readable/printable. Hopefully they are high resolution as that would be the easiest way to get copies. Like you though, I prefer holding a piece of bound paper in my hands. Autosport is another good one from the 60s we don't have over here in the US. Best Regards, Matt
