MG MGA - Lucas PL 700 headlamp

I have managed to acquire a couple of pairs of (old) PL700 lamps over the last few weeks. I have found answers to some of my basic questions such as:

Do they fit the regular sealed beam buckets? Yes.
Do the regular 3 prong pigtails fit? Yes with the sample bulbs I have.

Now to solve a couple of items before I install in my car:

1. The lamps have a bit of accumulated dirt on the inside of the lenses. It reminds me of the film accumulated on the inside of a windshield of an old car. How do I get it off? I am reluctant to separate lens from reflector when nothing is broken or corroded.

2. Bulbs. There was a recent thread with links to a bulb vendor, but I came away confused. What I want is a halogen bulb to fit these lamps and have the 3 prong connection to the pigtail. What do I order and where do I get it?

I will appreciate any help.

John,

To clean the lenses you could try some crushed ice with a little detergent and give it a good shake around. The ice shards are sharp enough to scour the dirt without damaging anything then dry with a hair dryer.

I think I might try the ice. That's how we used to clean coffee pots when I used to wait tables long ago.

Anybody got any experience with the bulbs?
