MG MGA - Help: Electronic Tacho / Rev Counter Problem
| Hi guys, the car is nearly there. Hopefully up for its first MOT in about 40 years, in a few weeks. However I have a slight niggle... I have a Lumenition optronic electronic ignition system on it and as such have fitted an alternive rev counter (RVC2415/00AF), the same as Steve Gyles has on his. However, unlike Steve, mine is reading about twice the revs, e.g. a slow lumpy tickover (estimated 750 revs) is reading a happy 1500rpm. Any thoughts, similar experiences, fixes? Cheers, Grant :-) PS I know this isn't required for the MOT, but it's annoying the hell out of me |

| Grant Strange one. I assume yours has 2 wires? How have you connected them? I have been trawling the web and it seems numbers of people have had trouble with their tachometers after fitting the Lumenition system. However, these have been with the RVI version and Lumenition advised customers to change to the later and much improved RVC variant - so that does not really help you. For what it's worth I use the Aldon Flamethrower (UK Petronix) and have never had a problem with my RVC. Just 2 wires to connect (ignition circuit and coil negative terminal) and earth the case. | Steve, earth the case? That's probably where I've gone wrong, as I've just connected the two wires up. I'm away from the car for a while, but I'll give it a go and report back. Many thanks, Grant :-) |

| Grant The bracket that holds the unit to the dashboard achieves the earthing. Steve |
