MG MGA - Classic Gold M/C 1500 vs 1600

Does anyone have any experience with Classic Gold M/C that are being offered by all the major retailers, and whether or not the 1500 and 1600 are the same, just with different tops? I noticed where they are both 7/8 bore, but I didn't know if there were any other differences like the threads to the pipes, or maybe it's just the domed top that is different.
I was going to order one while they are on sale and use my old domed top off my 1600 and save $50 if they are the same below the tops.

On the originals, the only difference is the top and the relevant gasket
dominic clancy

On the original 7/8" unit the body unit and contents are identical in both 1500 and 1600 series. The only difference being the dome unit on the 1600 & MKII units to accommodate additional fluid for the disk brake set up. It is my understanding that the Classic Gold units are patterned on the originals and interchange. Check with Moss Motors for confirmation. Your old dome top will fit fine. I have swapped them onto 1500 bodies in the past. If you are going to change the tops a new gasket would not be a bad idea just in case. Both units use the same one. If you have the original metal cap be sure and save that as they are NLA. From the pictures that I have seen the Classic Gold units come with the later style plastic cap used on the early "B"s which I use on my "A". It is easier to get on and off.
