MG MGA - bonnet buffers

Hi,
Last week when I was washing my car for the first time I found some water on the floor at the drivers feet.
I think it came from the bulkhead.
When washing the car water flows in the channel under the bonnet. The bonnet buffers are so big that they are blocking the channel and the water is filling the channel and flows over the edge on the bulkhead. From the bulkhead it drips one way or another on the cockpit floor.
I mounted the buffers directly on the bottom of the channel.
Or I have to grind some material from the sides of the buffers to make them smaller or I have to mount them higher so the water can flow underneath the buffers to the front of the channel and from there through the hole in the channel.
Any advice or help would be more than welcome.
Thank you,
Herman

I solved the problem accidentally. I found I needed to raise each of my buffers very slightly to achieve a good bonnet (hood) fit and I placed 10mm diameter washers underneath as shims. As a consequence the water runs underneath my buffers.
