| Mark, Look for marine grade copper stranded cable. It has the advantages of flexibility and a tougher casing. I used 1 AWG and my particular cable has a total diameter of almost ½ inch. If I were to do it again I would probably use 2 AWG so it would better fit in the clips under the car. You will need about 8 to 11 feet of cable depending on which side your battery mounted. A couple of safety items you might also consider are a plastic terminal caps for the battery and a battery cut-off switch. Search the archives for information on mounting the cut-off switch. The latter serves as a poor man's anti-theft device and makes it very convienent to disconnect the battery for work on the car. John |

| I made mine about 8" longer than stock and used the pictured lug on both ends. Picture shows the end of the one I made and the original one. I used #2 cable and it fits in the clips properly. My local CarQuest jobber has the wire, crimp ends, heatshrink tubing and the big crimp tool needed to do the job.

| I have #1-AWG cable with standard jacket for my main battery cable, and it fits the original P-clips fine. I have reason to believe (BMC part number tag) that this is correct original size for the long cable, although #2-AWG should work as well.
