MG MGA - Aluminum Hardtop for MGA
I apologize if I am listing in the wrong forum. I have an original aluminum hardtop that I would like to sell and wanted to get some advice on what a fair asking price would be. The top is very solid structurally with worn original black paint and needs restoration. Thanks in advance.

I am interested in seeing a photo of your hardtop as well.

I have observed recent sales of fully restored factory aluminum hardtops anywhere from near $3K to as much as $5K. Depending on the condition of your hardtop and what needs replacing, restoration costs might approach $2K. These tops are fairly rare, only 1450 or so were made, and there always seems to be alot of interest when one comes up for sale. I'm sure there will be enough interest in your top that the market will determine what the current "fair" value is.

Thanks Andy for the insight. These numbers are consistant with what I have read in other forums about past sales. I think your comment about the market dictating the price is a very good point and had thought about e-bay. Once I make a decision on whether or not I'm going to restore it first, I will get some photos up. However, there is not much to see- just a top in need of paint & new rubber. It's a survivor with the original paint still somewhat in tact.
