MG MGA - 3/4 inch bushings
Hey all, HAPPY NEW YEAR! As my project advances, I have a need for original type sway bar bushings. The usual sources say they are made of "unobtainium". Can a 3/4 inch rubber pipe or hose act as a substitute? Thanks, Tom

Tom, what size sway bar are you fitting? SF supplies the original size and type but I think that's only 9/16" diameter if my memory serves me right. I fitted the original type from SF and it fit very well when I restored my 60 Coupe. Andy

JC Whitney has a bunch of them. Try this: http://www.jcwhitney.com/jcwhitney/textsearch_result.jcw?sku=sway+bar+bushings Problem is, they don't tell you what size the things are, but expect you yo tell them what car it it for. I'm pretty sure they have suitable parts, just no way to figure it out from the catalog. Do you have original type sway bar, or aftermarket under frame type? There is a difference in the bushings required. For 3/4 inch aftermarket type, see here: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ACO-611D4 They have other sizes as well. Or go right to ADDCO for anything to do with sway bars. http://addco.net

Thanks to all but.....the bushing I need would look like a spool that thread is sold on. It would have a 3/4" hole and be 1 3/4" overall length. The outside diameter would be between 1 1/4" to 1 3/4". SF is out of stock with no known ship date. Regards, Tom
