MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZS180 2.5V6 engine noise

Friend's ZS V6 engine has started making nasty noise tapping/knock sound. Has been running perfect up til now so asked him if anything been done recently and he said oil/filter change last week by garage but other than that, nothing.
Any ideas?

How many miles, 45K - 50k on the clock?

Check the oil level !

If you leave a K series standing for a while the tappets can drain and this leads to a tappety sound
It justy needs a good run to bring them back again.

Take it back to the garage and ask, in case it is something else!

My ZS which is run daily, started to get the 'tapperty' sound, and was diagnosed at first as a tappet problem, but the noise got worse and it was infact a failure in the mainifold!
