MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZR160 Electric Windows
| The drivers side electric window will not go up or down - stopped half way. There is a faint (relay) click when operating the switch ?. Suggestions for those who might have experienced something similar please ?. It's a 2004 car in Australia. Passenger side window operates OK. |

| I have a ZS180 rather than a ZR160, but I'd be looking at voltage or a light somewhere to see if it dims slightly when you operate the switch. If it does, then the likelyhood is that the motor is being energised, but either the motor or the window is jammed, pulling or pushing on it while operating the switch may get it closed (if you have our temperatures at the moment) or open. If the light doesn't dim then the relay that is clicking probably isn't energising the motor, either because of a broken connection (fuse?) or a failed motor, you would have to do some voltage tests to see which. The only relay in the ZS system seems to be an ignition-operated relay, the passenger window switch seems to operate the motor directly, and the drivers via an ECU, so the ZS diagram probably isn't much further use to you. |
