MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - zr no power
hi my father in law has a 04 plate mg zr we have changed the lamdder sensor and camshaft sensor there is a loss of power when warm it is a 1.8 has anyone had this problem the car has only done 16,000 miles

Had a Rover 420i many years ago (R reg), similar problem cured with changing fly-wheel position sensor, had to get it on an MGR test computer to find the fault though. Wasn't that expensive either. Get the ECU interrogated and see what it coughs up. HTH

Richard, I presume that you changed the camshaft sensor and Lambda in attempt to cure this warm running problem? Can you provide more of a description of the problem? Worse on acceleration/ difficulty starting/ how it runs when cold etc etc I am not sure why you changed the sensors you mention, but the problem can usually be tracked down to either a poor spark, a problem with the fuelling or a problem with the timing of the spark/ fuel pulse. This could be something as simple as a blocked fuel filter - but the crank position sensor that Tim mentions could also be an explanation - particularly if starting is found to be a problem...

apparently he had same problem when cold checked the coil packs /fuel pressure then changed the sensors now problem when it is hot a guy i do not know plugged into ecu and diagnosed the sensors that he changed

I see - perhaps another session on testbook is required? I'm surprised about the cam position sensor fault - a crank position sensor error - as Tim mentions - is commoner. Certainly worth checking out, along with the spark plugs, leads and fuel filter - the simple cheap things first :o)
