MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZR exhaust

i noticed a vacume operated flap which closes one of the tail pipes - it doesn't appear to work (i presume that it would open under high load/revs and close at tickover low revs does anyone have any experience of this (could this have anything to do with my slightly rough running?)

Flap unlikely to have much to do with rough running, I had a problem with the crank sensor on my 214 which led to rough running when the car got hot.

make that flap stay open all the time it'll make the car louder ;-)

doing research it seems to be for noise only and some people disconnect it maybe the previous owner did this? i would like to reconnect it does anyone know?
