MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - winding me up lol

hi can ne one help me? i have just bought some window winders for my zr 105 5dr but dont know how to remove the original winder handles in the drivers and passenger doors r they glued on or something silly pls help

Not sure exactly how they work as I have only had to strip the front door with e/w's on my wife's 214, but usually, there is either a recessed cap which hides the screw that secures the winder, or, you need to push the door trim back a bit and insert a flat blade screwdriver and push a wire clip off. The clip sits into two slots on the winder and locks against the splined shaft. Have a look at the new one, if there are two slots on the shaft, then this is the likely method using a u shaped wire clip.

thanx for that will try n locate the little clip behind as there is no recess on the front it looks like a one piece moulded unit but thanx anyway

The winders are held on by a small spring clip. As the handle is, esentially, a one piece unit you have to get a screwdriver (or similar) behind the handle (opposite end to the knob) and prise the clip away. Easier to do than to describe.
