MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Up grading brakes on a ZR 105

I have a zr 105 and am wanting to upgrade the front brakes.
I have got some caliper sliders from a rover 220 coupe as these have the extra piece of metal removed to accept the vented 262mm discs from a rover 220 coupe.
Will these sliders fit a 105 caliper?
I have been to rover and checked to see if the caliper itself is the same as the 160 and it is!
So in theory the i should only need the sliders from a vented disced rover 200.
Am i right in my thinking?
I have obtained some red dot pads from Halfords at a bargain price of a 10 pounds they are on sale!
The problem i have is i cannot find out if the disc is the same on a 160 as a 220 coupe. Does any body know this?
Once i have found this out the conversion should be pretty straight forward.
I should then not fall foul of the horrible brake fade that i suffer so regularly!

Several duff points here...

1, 160PS ZR uses a 282mm diamter disc along with different caliper and carrier.

2, all other ZR models use the same parts as you find on previous R200, running back through pre 1996 models also. So here the 262mm vented and solid discs are the same parts as are the calipers and carriers. This means that you can use the caliper carrier and the 262mm vented discs.

3, Pads will be illegal if not 'e' marked on the back, and I doubt that they will be if they are clearance items. Anyone fitting none approved pads since April this year is liable to prosecution in the same way as you would be if a tyre was bald. Those selling or supplying also commit the offence, although they will be able to calim that these were not supplied to be fitted to an applicable car. Applicable car incidentaly is any car first registered after 1st September 1999, or V reg.

Main issue though will not be if the car is subject to a check and the back of the pads do not show a clear 'e' marking, but if you are ever unfortunate enough to be in an accident whereby the insurance comapny get to find out. They will by law have to cover third party losses, but will not cover yours, and then they will sue you for their losses!!!

This brake pad issue has been pending for some years and is commonly knownb under Regulation 90 titles to most retail and trade outlets. The catch is that it became effective in April and many old stock non compliant parts will have to filter out of the system before new 'e'marked stocks replace them.

I suggest if you are unhappy then a company like Halfords will not be happy at the prospect of exposure to prosecution for not confirming with the customer what the age of the car it that the parts are being supplied for.

Rog, if the new rules only apply to new pads fitted since April, then presumably non-e marked pads fitted prior to April are still legal until they wear out. How does anyone (insurance co or roadside checkers) know when the brake pads were fitted ?
