MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - squeek when going backwards


when my mgzs 180 is rolling backwards i here a squeek/grone noise from the backend. any idea's what this cud be would be gratefull

Brakes would be my first guess, jack up each corner in turn and try turning it by hand. I've had the rear brakes come on by themselves when reversing before now, although that was drum brakes. If that is quiet you or someone needs to be standing each side in turn as you go backwards to see which side it is from, and it could be bearings.
