MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Speedo problem on a 45 (No Z, but Rover cont)
| Not strictly MG but Rover based. I have cross posted this also on the MGF Tech page. My father-in-law’s speedo on his 45 has stopped working. He tells me that it does work very briefly every now and again but on the whole it doesn’t. The dealer has now had the car for a day and a half and still can’t definitely say what is wrong. The latest is that, “something may have come away and be floating in the gearbox” (father-in-law’s words not dealer). Does the 45 take the speedo reading off a sensor or something from the gearbox, like a lot of Fords used to? Is the power steering hydraulic or is it EPAS and could this have any bearing? Any further ideas of what the problem may be except for a broken or kinked speedo cable? Many thanks for your indulgence in this. |
