MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Scale models, MG7 & MGTF

A relation has brought me back from a Beijing dealership these rather nice 1:18 scale MG7 and TF models. The detail is very good, even the buckles on the fabic seat belts slide up and down (the Corgi MGF looks crude by comparison). I was wondering if these are available in the UK and anywhere else? Has anybody been collecting these? The models are marked "Nanjing MG Motor Company Ltd". The manufacturer of the TF is Ricko. No manufacturer is mentioned on the MG7. The Ricko website catalogue does not list these. I am assuming they are official MG company models?

Not seen those, but these days it seems impossible to get Dinky and Corgi type models at anything other than silly prices i.e. they are aimed at collectors not kids as toys. We have two grandchildren that are car mad and love playing with mine but all that seems available for them are ridiculous Disney/cartoon things. That was until Tesco this week, when we found just the ticket, modern cars you can find on the road at only 65p each.

The Hotwheels and Matchbox cars are still about, for around 1.40p(?). But not seen an MG since the Matchbox MGF in the 1990's and the MGB by Cararama about 5 years ago. Also a nice 1:18 TC from China about 5 years ago. Specialist model shops usually have the rarer ones, but like you, my pockets are not deep enough!

Haven't seen Matchbox anywhere we have looked, and whilst there are Hotwheels they are all outlandish and nothing like Dad's or Grandad's. These http://www.hotwheels.com/cars/2009/cars_mainline_landing_10.aspx are typical.

But weren't Hotwheels always outlandish? I still have mine from the 1970's and they are definitely outlandish! Thank you for the excellent link, and on the Matchbox site (on the link) I see some good marques; Mini, Jaguar, Lotus etc. I think it is time I dropped into a toy shop. Suprised they are not available in your area. Do they get to the UK at all?

Cheers,
Matthew.
