MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Oil leaks through engine block side cover plates

Dear enthusiasts, the engine block in my ZB Magnette (MGB 1.8 litre, 5 bearings) has two rectangular side cover plates with cork gaskets. The rear plate and cork dosnŽt seal at all. If I tight up the central bolt, the plate will bent and if not, the cork gasket will not seal. There are eminent oil leaks. Has any body experience with this problem and can help with a tip ?

Matthias, this is the wrong section for your question. This section is for the modern, MG Rover, Z saloons (ZR, ZS & ZT), not the Magnette. You will no doubt get a better response if you post under the Magnette or MGB sections.
