MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - MG ZR mods on Midland's TV 'Revved up'

This programme obviously aimed at the Max Power type enthusiast or those who spend shed loads modifying (mostly style mods) on fairly basic cars. Not my cup of tea but watched it anyway as they were showing a feature on the MG ZR 105 they've used for both body and engine mods. Featured in previous programmes apparently which I have not seen.

The ZR's session on the rolling road was both interesting and informative for those unaware of the difference and losses between flywheel and road wheels power figures.

The finished product looked quite tasty and performed much better than expected following cylinder head mods giving an extra 10%. The crunch for me came when the total cost was mentioned. 20,000 ... ouch! However, that's peanuts compared to what some Max Power types spend customising their otherwise basic cars.

In any event, it would further raise the profile of the UK's best selling Hot Hatch and that has to be a good thing.

The car is being offered as a prize in the programme.

I was very interested in watching Revved Up, but didn't get it in my TV region of the country :-(

Did the engine mods match those on offer from the Sport and Racing catalogue? (- Intake/Cylinder Head/Exhaust/Backbox)

An extra 10% from the original 103 Bhp? Or an extra-Extra 10%?!!

Good that the car was featured on a TV show. Still it would be cheaper to buy a new standard ZR160 and the insurance would probably be cheaper than a heavily modified 105.

I now that's not the point of the whole Max Power movement - but why go to all the time, trouble and expense, voiding the warranty, etc when the 160 is more powerful off the shelf? Perhaps it's because they can?
