MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Mega and the ZR160 - he sees sense!

Mega finally sees sense for once! (btw, it IS him, check the spelling!)

Found 'elsewhere'....

"Autocar Group test.....Well done ZR 160!!!!
Many of you will be a little shocked to find i am the auother of this post, but i think it needs to be said. To day "Autocar" hit our news stands, now i like it but find i don't agee with every thing they say. I have been told on one occation to "Piss OFF" by Steve Cropy himself.

You see they "W*nk*d" on and on a bout the 306 GTI-6. A "Great" car.....Not. They love lift off oversteer, great fun on a track, but some what less fun on a contry lane when you lifted to avoid a sheep or something and the bast*rd thing trys to throw you off the road!

Now they did a group test and slagged the ZR off, "That it didn't come last is its only real coup".

Oh really!

Well lets just have a look at the lap times shall we and see what the ZR beat:- Skoda RS Turbo,VW Lupo GTI,Seat Leon Cupra,Proton GTI,Citroen Xsara VTS,Ford Mondeo 2.0,Alfa 147,Celica,MX5,Ford Focus ST170.

Even better the much vaulted "Mini Cooper-S" was only 0.19 of a second in front. A car built from the start to "Handle" and with the benerfit of a toquey forced induction motor and an extra gear ratio!

The Pug 180 was only a little quicker as was the Vauxhall Turbo. I dismiss the rest as either out going cars, usable (Caterham) or without what you need to use a cat day to day ABS and air-con (172 cup).

There was only going to be one winner, but i think the ZR did a very good job indeed. Yes it needs a better driving polistion and trim. But if it got a stiffer shell (i working on it) and a turbo motor (They are working on it!) Than it would be a belter!

Forget Autocar, well done MGR!
Mega"

LOL - just checked over at that forum and sure enough, it is Mega's work! albeit with the mention of the seat position again!
Well done, Mega! Magnaminous as always!

But....should your ZR160 break down (Which apppears quite probable...) the situation is woefully different....which is a great shame.
