MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Insurance on a ZT-T 260

I have been thinking of changing may every day car and one of the cars I am considering is the ZT-T.

If my wife has her way it will be a 190+ but I would like a 260. So I went on to an insurance website called Elephant, there was a link to it from autotrader, to find out the insurance quote for the 260.

For an example car MG ZT-T 260SE 2003 £15k 10k miles the quote was £727.

As a comparison I got quotes on other possible replacements:
Jaguar XJ8 4.0 2001 £15k 10k miles £496
Jaguar XJR 2001 £15k 10k miles £604
Alfa Romeo 166 3.0 super lusso 2002 £8000 10k miles £498

Why is the 260 so expensive to insure? Are there specialists who like these cars?

I get about £590 from elephant which is bloody good for my part of the world, for any performance car. I don't reckon you'll do much better.

gather that Scarlet got a good deal from A-plan - maybe worth dropping Steve Marsh a line?
