| In an occasional series Mega discusses the banes of the modem motorist:- To night the born again (and soon to die) Biker. Good evening everyone Well we have all seem haven't we? The born again motorcyclist. We will call him "John". A 30-40 year old with a passion to overtake everyone……….on his way to the afterlife. On any sunny (they don't ride in rain remember) day they can be found screaming up and down country roads (which they don't know) on their way to the scene of the accident. They can't handle the bike of that power (few could) but still they piss money away on a "Machine" of very quick speeds. They would be much better of with a sports tourer but no, he must have the "Top Gun" model, ……..Why/ you ask, well for the answer we must go back in time 20 years to his youth. Mummy and daddy didn't what him to have bike at all, but they agree, with one condition. He must buy the Honda 250 N Super(WET) Dream. There where few things worse to do to a young male back in the late 70's than force him to a wet dream! Heavy, underpowered, slow bad handling in short ..SH*TE! Everyone else had either a Yam RD 250 (you always fitted the bigger 400 engine latter) or the Suzie X7, the first 250 to hit 100 mph! Day after day, night after night he got pissed all over by the 2-stroke bad boys. I should know, I was one of them. Where as I have great memories of my beloved bikes (Rd 400 E, 350 LC, 350 YPVS) He only has bad ones. He trundled to work, I used they mine for crime, indeed if breaking the law was your game RD was the name. We (the crew I was in) would use nothing else. That darling little machine saved me from long periods at Her majesties pursue, it seemed to understand your situation and delivered reliable "escape venosity". One day I will post about the leader of our crew "Beno", and all manor of ill sh*t we fostered on the world, but not to day. So "John" wants pay back, his wife has got him a nice people carrier and that's the last straw! So he go's out and this time he goes's LARGE! The only problem is that he has little ability to ride such a motser. He also drives and is used to the benefits of ABS and ESC etc, which don't come with a bike. It all ends in tears because "John" has tried to revisit the past. He has tried to be something he is not, or never was or could be. The past is the past, the car I use is regged to me, and if I saw a blue light I would pull over. There was a time when if Debby Harry of "Blondie" started to chat to you, you would think about the location of the nearest bed! If she did it today, you look for the location of the fire exit! Time waits for no one, John and his kind should grow up, sell the People carrier and get a good GTI! Mega. |
