MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Immobilzed woes
| This is what happened last night, no laughing please! Parked my car to go to a meeting and the pressing the buttons on the fob wont lock or unlock the car so locked it with the key. Went to my meeting, came back fob still not working so opened car with my key put it in the ignition and immobilizer keeps beeping. fortunately i had a spare new battery for the fob that i bought for the spare fob but hadnt got around to fitting. Put the new battery in but it still wont work, despite following the resync procedure. So there I am standing next to my car staring at the fob pressing the button out of hope when i lady comes who lives there and says she always has problems with her remote when she parks in that little lay-by. The only solution i could come up with was to sit my colleague in the car to steer while i pushed it up the road to get it away from the lay by for what felt like miles trying the remote every so often till eventually it worked again (breathes a big sigh of relief) My hypothesis - there is a power cable or something running under the road at that spot that was interfering with my (and her) transmitting bits that un immobilize the car. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is it even possible or was it re working just a co-incidence? seems strange given her problems there to? p.s. i have just acquired the EKA code for my car, just in case :-) |

| Becoming more common, it's radio interference, a commonly used frequency for key fobs had already been allocated to the MoD, Amateur radio and some mobile networks, see http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/archive/ra/topics/low-power/document/rake/rake.htm |
