MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - How much????

The heater fan on my ZS just stopped working last week, just went to turn it on and nothing, (not even on settings 3 and 4 so not the resistor). Took it to an MG dealer and they diagnosed a burnt out motor and quoted nearly £350 (motor + fitting+ VAT) to replace it. I must have turned a funny colour because they offered to source a second hand one for me. I took the car to my little,local privately owned car spares place who offered to take it out, replace the brushes and overhaul etc for about £40 (big difference) Turns out when the took it apart a feather had managed to jam itself between a brush and something else that caused the motor not to work. Feather removed, quick clean up and refit and now working perfectly for £15, now thats what i call a result. I guess the point of my story is sometimes a second opinion can save a fortune and while replacing the motor would have fixed my problem, well the cost.......
