MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Harmon Kardon Speakers
| My 2003 ZT 160 1.8T came standard with the Iovox CD/MP3 player and full Harmon Kardon speaker package, including the subwoofer housing under the rear parcel shelf, 180W 6ch amp, etc. It sounds terrible, not much bass, and plenty of resonance. The local dealer seems unable / unwilling to attend to it, apart from tweaking the bass, mid and treble settings to no avail. Am I expecting too much from the system? Surely Harmon Kardon cannot be at fault, but more likely a poor installation. It sounds as if there is not enough sound damping material used in the doors. No bass, just thud. Has anyone else experienced the same problems? I am not expecting a mobile disco, just decent quality sound. |

| More info. I took the car to a professional installer for a "free" evaluation. He agreed that the sound is not up to scratch, and (surprise, surprise) suggested a new head unit. He's in the business to make a profit, I suppose. He did however pick up the the subs do not appear to be venting through the port on the back parcel shelf as they are supposed to. He thinks the port may be blocked, so I am going to rope my trusty spanners into action this weekend and take a peek. |
