MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Evolution of the ZT

Further research on my impending ZT purchase, can anyone provide any ideas about the model changes over the years...

The reason being I saw a sept 01 reg and from the photos it didn't look as I imagined (interior mainly), but it could have just been just because it was taken from the passenger side...
Also the spec wasn't correct - but I assume this was just the dealer having input the data correctly.

Anyway, it'd be good to know, and save me some travelling if I discover that actually PAS was an option until 2003, or some such nonsense.

The only thing I know is that the suspension changed from sports as standard to optional at some point in 2002 (I liked the sports suspension).

Oh BTW/ I'm talking about the 190+ here, I know they are fairly choppy and changey about the engine options, powers and things... buti'm only interested in the big v6 hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I have had a quick look on the Web but there seems to be a lack of enthusiastic anally detailed sites about MY alerations!!!

There's a huge choice of options to be honest, but there were two mainstream offerings in the 190 originally, the 190 and 190+. Externally, in 2002, the 160's had hairpin alloys while the 190s had straights (I cheated and paid extra for the straights) I think they now have hairpins standard and straights on the + models.
Now you would want to get the 190+ to start with as that will have the ATC instead of the basic air-con vent controls.
But as standard, it would have had the black vinyl/ pattern'd cloth seats with colouring/coloured stitched to suit the body colour. All 190s should have an ingot below the ZT badge with 190 on it, if not then its a 160V6 unless it has the CDTi or 1.8T badge.
On the interior, though, there might be some additional features like three buttons on the console above the ashtray for the heated seats and electric rear window blind.
Depending whether sat nav features it will have some form of original or kenwood upgrade hifi. Otherwise they will all be technical silver finish dash and console instead of wood unless it has gone through the mongram option and is coloured.
Check out xpowerforums.com as the gallery has quite a lot of interior photos and there a re a number of members with 190s that range in age from 2001 to new.
Basically choose the highest spec'd car you can find. At least you won't be paying the loss on the extras that the first owner has!

Just as an aside... How do you tell if a ZT/ZS/ZR is fitted with the optional sports suspension?

Only the ZT has a sports suspension option. In answer to your question - drive it, you'll soon know. :)
