MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Chuntering heater

ZS 180 facelift. About this time of year and in Spring, presumably when the temperature is a bit marginal between heating and cooling, there is a constant rattling as if a ventilation flap is going back and fore because it can't make its mind up. It's not just a rattle as if something is loose. It seems much more noticeable if the system is set to recirculate. Is this just a symptom of insufficient development or a fault? And if the latter what fixes it and can you do it without getting all the dash out!?

Do you have standard air con or ATC in your car?

ATC which I take it is the type where one sets a temperature on display and the system maintains that.
