MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Biodiesel experiences anyone? (no Z content)

I've just learnt (from a couple of websites) that my recently purchased 2004 VW Passat estate TDI has been declared by VW as safe to run on 100% biodiesel. 2 local Volkswagen dealers have just confimrmed.

After a little research on't'internet I've discovered that the nearest supplier to Southampton is in Fareham - about 20 mins on the motorway. They sell
”RME” (Rapeseed) Biodiesel meeting the current EN14214 specification - in short, the best stuff, that won't freeze during the winter. It retails for 75p + VAT a litre - 10p a litre cheaper than conventional diesel. So as well as being carbon neutral I'll be quids in over the years.

It all seems too good to be true - performance is apparently unaffected, and it even seems that after a month or two after making the switch, once a fuel filter change has been effected, I can happily change between bio- and conventional diesel with no worries.

Is anyone aware of any negatives / pitfalls? Any helpful experiences / facts / stories welcomed.
